Raise Your Hand, God Will Answer

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5

How often have you encountered a question from one of your children? Several times a day I am sure. And how many times were you able to answer the question and seen the light of joy fill their eyes? It is you they look up to for those answers. It fills them with knowledge and confidence to move forward in their day. You are their source of wisdom as they grow.

Yet what happens when we encounter what seems to be the unanswerable? In those moments when we are questioning things beyond our own abilities to find an answer. There are even answers that can not be attained by even the smartest scholars. The answers you seek are those that only can be attained through the spirit, in our religion and faith.

The great poet Robert Frost said many years ago…

“…religion always seems to me to come around to something beyond wisdom. It is the straining of the spirit forward to a wisdom beyond wisdom.”

I really like that phrase “wisdom beyond wisdom” for it forces me to deepen my faith in God as the one who can answer what man considers the unanswerable.

All we have to do is raise our hand by reaching out to God in prayer. God is the great father, the great teacher, the great answer to all we need answered. When you seek an answer that seems impossible to answer, reach out to God in prayer. He is right there eagerly waiting to have that conversation.

His light will fill your eyes with joy.
