The Essence of Evangelism

“Do not fear, nor be afraid; Have I not told you from that time, and declared it? You are My witnesses. Is there a God besides Me? Indeed there is no other Rock; I know not one.” Isaiah 44:8

God has trusted us with the sharing of His hope and salvation.

  • Our lives don’t have to be perfect…
  • Our words don’t have to be eloquent…
  • Our delivery doesn’t have to be practiced…
  • It is our obedience to His command that brings power to our witness…

Obedience brings fruit and fruit is the most powerful witness of all.

But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely. Galatians 5:22-23

Our co-workers…our neighbors…our acquaintances will know who we follow when they see who is in our lead.

My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. John 10:27

Our life is our witness and the essence of evangelism.

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Romans 12:1

We will know that someone is thirsty when they stand before our life and desire what we have. They see our peace, kindness and a life (while not perfect) that works. A life that works is the most powerful witness of all.

Rivers of living water will brim and spill out of the depths of anyone who believes in me this way, just as the Scripture says.” (He said this in regard to the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were about to receive.) John 7:38

So, don’t be afraid. God’s grace shown through your life is His witness.
