Daniel (Age 7) – “Captain America is winning!”
Stephanie (Age 4) – “That’s because he has a shield”
Daniel – “No, it’s because he goes after people”
It’s amazing how a God can speak to us, even through something as simple as a conversation between two kids while they watch a video game.
What I heard from the conversation is that we need to be Christians that are on the offensive and not the defensive.
So often we hide behind our Christianity in a ‘safe’ place, but that is not what we are called to do! It is not just our role to show up to church and say our prayers. We are called to go out into the world and love on people who don’t know the Lord. We are called to show those people what Christ looks like.
The parable of the talents explains this well for us. We see in Mat 25:14-30 that we have all been given gifts according to our abilities. The servants who invested their talents were rewarded. The servant who hid his talent was reprimanded and had his only talent removed from him. His talent was then handed to one of the diligent servants.
We need to be going after people and winning them to Christ, so that when our race is run we get to hear our Heavenly Father say: “Well done, good and faithful servant!” – Matthew 25:21
Don’t hide in your safe place. Step out of your comfort zone and go after people. Your efforts WILL be rewarded and EVERYBODY (not just Captain America) wins!
