Remain loyal and remain in your prime…

7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions, 8 but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly…. 10“Now then, just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years since the time he said this to Moses, while Israel moved about in the wilderness. So here I am today, eighty-five years old! 11 I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. 12 Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.” Joshua 14:7-8 & 10-12

Loyalty is an unappreciated trait. Practiced consistently and sincerely it has been shown over and over to bring blessings to God’s people.

A great example of biblical loyalty is that of Caleb. He was one of the twelve spies sent by Moses into the promised land. He followed (believed) God “wholeheartedly.” In other words, he stayed LOYAL to God by ACTING on God’s promises. He was not only willing to go into the promised land but stood against those who were disloyal to God’s promises.

Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.” Numbers 13:30

But, we cannot remain loyal to God unless we remain loyal to God’s leaders. Caleb was the one to first stand up for God’s promise but Joshua was the one chosen by God to be Moses’ assistant and heir apparent. And still…Caleb remained loyal far longer than most of us would “reasonably” be expected to.

  • 45 years serving God by serving Moses and then serving Joshua
  • 45 years waiting for God’s promise
  • 45 years seeing others receive their blessings, receive their land and walk out their call

Then, at 85 years old, Caleb walked in boldness of action and asked for his reward.

85…when most of us are ready for the rocking chair and great grandkids Caleb was looking to take the land of which he had been promised. But in his request, he remained loyal.

There was no whining about being old and needing to move now before it is too late. Instead, moving through loyalty he understood the power of God’s promise. Caleb prophesied that he was as “strong now” as he was then and able to travel, fight and overcome. With God we are ALWAYS in our PRIME!

No matter how long your delay…no matter your age…no matter your circumstance…REMAIN loyal to God by remaining loyal to His leaders, His church and His son.

And when the time is right, remind God of your promise. He will listent to you. While disloyalty lengthens your wilderness experience, LOYALTY WILL BE REWARDED.

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of thosewhose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.” 2 Chronicles 16:9

PS: God speaks to us through His word, in prayer and through teaching. Today (Sunday, January 22, 2012) I heard through Ps Kay and Ps Travis. Their teaching led me to further study and deeper revelation on loyalty. Take what you are taught and dig deeper. You too will receive revelation!
