All things…

31st October

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Romans 8:28

It is much easier to believe that God does work in all things when “all” is going good. But where is God when it’s not going so good? He’s painting the panoramic.

In the original Greek; “all things” is PANTA. It’s is similar in meaning to PANORAMIC, PANACEA or PANDEMIC. In other words, ALL THINGS is ALL INCLUSIVE. It’s the totally of your life.

We look at our world and see ONE snapshot. What ever we are going through…facing…and most of all what ever we are FEELING seems to us to be the defining point of our life.

God though does not see our lives as a moment in time. His view of us is always … Read More »

What is your mission?

28th October

The Journey Instructors spent last weekend with the young adults from the Salvation Army. Each one of the young adults knew the mission of the Salvation Army.

“While women weep, as they do now, I’ll fight; while little children go hungry, as they do now, I’ll fight; while men go to prison, in and out, in and out, as they do now, I’ll fight; while there is a drunkard left, while there is a poor lost girl upon the streets, while there remains one dark soul without the light of God, I’ll fight-I’ll fight to the very end!” – William Booth

We need to know the mission of our local church, the mission of the C3 movement as a whole (the 2020 Vision) and the mission of God (the great commission)

Mark 16:15 “And then he told them, “Go into all the world … Read More »

Running from His acceptance…

28th October

Even after we know the power of God’s love we can spend a lifetime running from His acceptance. Afraid to fully commit…we miss out on His promises by trying to hide from His grace.

While we may be talking the walk, inside we hide our fear by dulling our emotions. Thinking that if we don’t “feel” the pain it is not “there,” we go places where we shouldn’t go.

And yet no matter where we hide; God is already there. We are never out of His sight…never out of His light…never out of His love.

Quit running from His acceptance. Fully commit to your walk with Him and the full promise of His grace.

Is there anyplace I can go to avoid your Spirit? to be out of your sight? If I climb to the sky, you’re there! If I go underground, you’re … Read More »

Now be strong and courageous…

27th October

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

It has been a tough week…a long week. It hasn’t looked like God has been with you but perhaps you aren’t looking in the right places.

God is with us wherever we go. That is His promise. That is His word.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Deuteronomy 31:6

He gave you a word once for your life. What was it? Have you forgotten? Have you put it somewhere and never again pulled it back up?

Open His word and grab YOUR word. 1000’s of promises exist in God’s … Read More »

The Fulfillment of God’s Dreams

26th October

Then, after doing all those things, I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions. Joel 2:28

There is a dream inside of you that only God can fulfill. It is bigger than you…bigger than your friends…bigger than you realize.

You’ve seen it in a vision. Late at night you have thought on its potential. In the early morning you’ve questioned your ability to walk it out.

Wonder no more…God has poured His dream into you. Prophesy over your circumstances. Find someone to stand with you. Stand with resolve and see that you do not stand alone.

Then, when the time for action comes at hand…strike fast and strike hard. You are the fulfillment of God’s dreams for His world.

The account you will give…

25th October

And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Hebrews 4:13

Don’t dwell on the account you must give but focus on the tools available to BUILD your account.

We can’t hide from Jesus but neither can wisdom, insight, knowledge or favor. All things are “naked” before Him and available for us.
Stronger than the account we must give is the grace available to help us when we are in need. Use this grace to strengthen your weakness and put your account in the black.
Our approach to Jesus is one of reverence and awe but BOLDNESS instead of timidity is the mark of a true disciple.
Jesus empathizes with our weaknesses; what He faced down we can put down.

Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the … Read More »

Small start to a big end…

He set another parable before them, saying, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field; which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.” Matthew 13:31-32

Humans tend to think that anything that will result in BIG must start BIG.

The opposite is true. The smallest of starts…when they are carefully planted, nurtured, watered, and cared for…grow large enough to provide cover, protection and a resting point for others.

Take your seed; plant it and watch it grow. Don’t worry about how big it will be. Instead, let it (your faith) be big enough.

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly … Read More »

Mark your victory and return to your marker…

20th October

God realizes that in the midst of our fight, our human condition needs encouragement that He is on our side.

Samuel then took a large stone and placed it between the towns of Mizpah and Jeshanah.[a] He named it Ebenezer (which means “the stone of help”), for he said, “Up to this point the Lord has helped us!” 1 Samuel 7:12

After every major point of victory in the Old Testament, the Israelites set a marker to remind them of their victory through God’s deliverance. The markers were not hidden but placed along major roads or river crossings. The Israelites would see these and be reminded that God had helped them before and would help them again.

Some makers were not physical but verbal. David, when preparing to battle Goliath, told Saul that God would deliver him from the giant. He was not … Read More »

What if…

What if the church, men and women, truly focused on their mission; to build the body of Christ?

Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. Mark 16:15 NLT

…I will put together my church, a church so expansive with energy that not even the gates of hell will be able to keep it out. Matthew 16:18 MSG

What if they took this mission so serious that they were not only servants but Warriors?

Bring down your warriors, O Lord! Joel 3:11 NLT

It’s not enough to get saved. This is the easy part. Now, we have to work our salvation so that others can be saved…for Christ and from themselves.

Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift … Read More »

God’s promises are not some far off land. His word doesn’t exist just to take us to our reward in Heaven. Our reward is His promise but our lives are his masterpiece.

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Ephesians 2:10

Sure, you have problems. We all do. But, we all have access to the same one who has overcome all of our problems.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

His word is mighty and powerful. It builds…provides comfort and warmth…hope for the future AND the now.

Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead. Admiral David … Read More »
