Seeking with Tenacity

29th July

“Here’s what I’m saying: Ask and you’ll get; Seek and you’ll find; Knock and the door will open.” Luke 11:9

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. Matthew 6:33

These verses are more than just God’s promise to us. They are instructions on how to live our lives. It’s not enough to just “claim” these verses, we have to CARRY them out.

This requires five things:

Know what you are seeking: Are you looking for a word from God, wisdom, direction or a miracle? If so, you need to be able to accurately describe what you seek. This isn’t for God, He already knows. This is for you. If you don’t know what you are looking for, how will you know when you find it?

We are not the Frozen Chosen…

Posted by Jim Crumbley in Daily Dose, Focus. No Comments

28th July

As a whole, Christians seem to spend more time searching for the will of God than DOING the will of God. We become frozen from action in a convincingly sincere desire to find God’s will for our lives…our circumstances…our ministry.

Jesus was never frozen. He saw needs and FILLED them. When He saw, Jesus took ACTION. When He heard, Jesus not only listened He Did.

But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves. James 1:22

And when Jesus DID, lives were forever changed. By DOING…

The multitudes would be fed…
The blind would see…
The lame would walk…
The captives would be freed…
The lost would be found…

There is no need to “religiously” search out God’s will for our lives. We are to DO God’s will in our lives. And by doing (doing by serving), we … Read More »

Change the Seed and Change the Harvest

Posted by Jim Crumbley in Daily Dose, Recovery. No Comments

27th July

Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others—ignoring God!—harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life. Galatians 6:7-8

Every day….EVERY DAY….we plant something. Eventually, what we plant will be harvested. What are you planning to plant today?

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Galatians 6:9

Don’t give up…keep planting the good. You will reap! And if, right now, you are still harvesting BAD that has previously been planted…DON’T GIVE UP!

Step Off The Wall – Jesus Will Guide You!

Psalm 91:14-15 The Lord says, “I will save the one who loves me. I will keep him safe, because he trusts in me.  He will call out to me, and I will answer him.  I will be with him in times of trouble.  I will save him and honor him.

Key Points:

When you trust and love Him, God will get you out of trouble.
When you step out in faith and freeze, God doesn’t judge your failure. He helps you out of your predicament and helps you BACK onto the wall.
Jesus is beside you. He may send someone else to “talk you down” but He will NOT leave you stranded.
Step out in faith…YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

When I call, give me answers. God, take my side! Once, in a tight place, you gave me room; Now I’m in trouble again: grace me! hear me! Psalm 4:1

Remember when God delivered you?

He gave you a miracle.
He was there when you cried out.
You were trapped and He freed you.
It wasn’t about who was to blame.
There was no discussion of what you deserved.
He was there.
He will be again.

Now, you are in trouble again. You need God. You need an answer. You need His deliverance…His help…You need to hear His voice. You will again.

Call out! Ask Him to take your side. Ask Him for His help. He will HEAR you. He will GRACE you. And, at the t the end of THIS day, see if your life is not better.

Develop your urges…

22nd July

Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan River, being urged by the Spirit – Luke 4:1

We can be full of the Holy Spirit but still struggle hearing what He has to say. Perhaps we are over complicating our relationship with the Spirit of God.. We struggle to hear a WORD from God when He is already providing us with direction through an URGING in our spirit.

When we are hungry, our stomach urges us to eat.
When we are dehydrated, our thirst urges us to drink.
When we are tired, our fatigue urges us to sleep.
When we are sad, our emotions urge us to cry.
When we are happy, our joy urges us to smile.

These urges are natural and require little thought or internal debate. In fact, these physical urges are part of our natural (physical) make-up provided by God.

Our spiritual make-up … Read More »

Fear to Grace to Recovery

Posted by Jim Crumbley in Daily Dose, Faith, Recovery. 1 Comment

21st July

The most frightening step on our walk is the point where  we have to FACE ourselves and overcome a sinful pattern.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Psalm 119:7

Once we realize that grace DOES NOT mean that we don’t have to face and/or re-face sinful patterns in our life we can REALIZE its true power. Grace washes us of guilt and opens the door for recovery. Just as God is there to help us in our troubles, he is there to help us overcome sin.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the … Read More »

Black Tee Blog…Preparing for Battle

Posted by Jimmy Scyoc in BlackTees Blog, Focus. No Comments

20th July

There are always two sides to a battle:

Good vs. evil, offense vs. defense
North vs. south
Jets vs. Giants

Both sides prepare for combat with an array of weapons, armor, and strategy.  Due to the desire to win, history shows that a soldier’s weapon and armor has continually become more advanced and more lethal.  As Christian men, we also must prepare for our battle and reevaluate our strategy; because our enemies our numerous, and their weapons will vary and increasingly complex.

Because they have withheld the test of time, our weapons and armor remain simple…and deadly. We only need a sword and shield to win our battles and defeat the giants in our lives.

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the world. No, I did not come to bring peace, but a SWORD.” Matthew 10:34.

Jesus came to proclaim the greatness … Read More »

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Key Points:

Flee from your sin but don’t focus on your weakness/struggle
Focus on the PURSUIT
What holds you back (sin, wrong thinking) falls off IF your pursuit is FAST and FURIOUS
You are not meant to pursue alone…find others to go with you

Making today count…by running to your battle line

Posted by Jim Crumbley in Daily Dose, Recovery. No Comments

18th July

When we struggle with our “struggles” and wonder when our victory will arrive is not the time to pull back. Only by driving forward can we overcome our Giant.

As the Philistine moved closer to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. 1 Samuel 17:48

Make a commitment today…and everyday…to run to your battle line. Your weapon is God’s word. Use it for whatever you are facing…today

Today is not a day to give up but to RISE up.
It is a day to stand on His word and not on our own understanding.
It is a day to let go of the past and run to our future.
Today is the day for YOU to stand on God’s word by living His word.

We are made right (righteous) with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for … Read More »
